Singapore
The BVI facilitates the flow of capital from East to West and plays an important role in structuring investment and offering wealth management solutions in Southeast Asia, including in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Singapore serves as the perfect gateway to Southeast Asia and, similar to BVI, has a legal system that is based on English common law. This is easily understood by lawyers trained in common law jurisdictions.
“Upholding international regulatory standards is critical for any financial centre and a decisive factor in maintaining a competitive edge. The feedback we received during the panel session strongly indicates that BVI has established the right balance between being compliant with international regulatory standards while remaining competitive, offering legal certainty and being cost effective”; said Elise Donovan, Director of BVI House Asia.
